We're allowed to play out again *CHEERS*! I LOVE exploring new bars and restaurants so I couldn't be happier that we can go out and enjoy some food and drinks now, even if it is still a little bit weird. Leeds is an amazing city for food and drinks. There's something for every occasion, but unlike bigger cities like Manchester and London, it's an intimate enough place that you also have the luxury of being able to hop around and explore a real mix of places without too much of an expedition. So, if you happen to find yourself in the city centre area, here are my top spots to stop for a bev for any occasion.

CELEBRATION COCKTAILS- Angelica

If you're looking to treat yourself and don't mind splashing the cash, Angelica is the perfect location for a special occasion. It's ultra-stylish and slick, with the service to match. The roof terrace overlooking Leeds is gorgeous, but the inside is just as luxe so don't worry if it's raining. On weekends this place gets really busy, so I would recommend booking, even just for drinks. The venue moves towards a more lively cocktail bar feel from 9pm onwards- but the music is always very chilled out and not too loud so if you're not up for a boogie you can carry on chatting.

DATE NIGHT: The Domino Club

Is there anything more exciting than a 'secret bar'? Admittedly this is the worst kept secret in Leeds, but that doesn't stop the excitement of it. At first glance this venue looks like a barbers (and I believe it actually is a functioning barbers during the day!) but behind the door at the back is a gorgeous 1920's style speak-easy. All you have to do to gain entry is ask the bouncer if you can go downstairs. The Domino Club is the ultimate date-night. Along with feeling like you've been transported to the era of prohibition, it's candle lit opulence is really cosy. Every night there is live jazz music and performers which, even if you're not a usual jazz fan, adds to the authenticity of the experience.

SUN SOAKED DRINKS: The Original Oak

The Original Oak in Headingley is the best beer garden in Leeds- I will not have it questioned. I may be biased because I spent many a boozy afternoon soaking up rays on these benches as a student, but it can't be beaten. On a sunny day, the atmosphere is electric. The vast lawn means you can usually find a space (unlike most outdoor spaces in the city) and the cheap drinks make it an ideal place to settle down for a long and boozy afternoon.

An honourable mention for best places to go on a sunny day goes to Headrow House:

This was narrowly pipped to the post, purely because it's so damn difficult to get a space outside. Headrow House is trendy and stylish, it's got the ultimate chilled out vibe for after work drinks.

A GOOD OLD PINT (or g&t in my case): The Pack Horse

Nestled down an alley just off Briggate- the Pack Horse is Leeds Oldest Pub (so worth a visit just to say you've been). Inside it's just your typical Great British Pub- the drinks are cheap, the atmosphere is good and they often have live music on. If you're done shopping and want a quick one or just want a retreat from the inevitable rain, it's one for your list.

FUN WITH FRIENDS: Water Lane Boathouse

Water Lane Boathouse is lovely indoors and outdoors. Enjoy a waterside drink in the beer garden, or move indoors and enjoy the reclaimed aesthetic of high beams and exposed brick. The relaxed vibe and bench style tables make the venue feel really sociable- plus the bar holds a quiz which is one of the best ones my friends and I tried out (free pizza if you enter- sold!)

I hope this gives you some more ideas of where to visit if you ever do come to Leeds. I'm off now to compile my definitive list of best places to dine.

Enjoy!x
